Three days lost in the German mountains
After this very hot Italian summer, we chose to take a short break into the mountains to refresh and regenerate ourselves. We decided to search for a stay in somewhere new, not so far from home, just to relax for a few days!
We finally selected the Bavarian Alps in Germany! It’s a great place with lots of things to see..
We had the opportunity to visit them thanks to KEMPINSKI HOTEL BERCHTESGADEN.
Now I tell you the experiences we had and the way they cuddled us during all this stay!
In this period, the mild climate, the green nature, the facilities and the sceneries make this place more than outstanding.
Now I’ll show why.
It’s located in the Bavarian Alps, at an altitude of 1000m which allows you to enjoy the panoramic views of Salzburger Land (30 minutes by car from Salzburg), the Berchtesgaden valley and different mountains.
The structure is quite new and it’s very modern: the rooms are located in different positions and some of them provide a special view at the Berchtesgaden Alp’s.
KonigSee, a natural lake in the extreme southeast Berchtesgadener Land district of the German state of Bavaria, near the Austrian border. Most of the lake is within the Berchtesgaden National Park. The lake is famous for its clear water and is on of the the cleanest lake in Germany. Due to this, only electric-powered passenger ships, rowing and pedal boats are permitted on the lake.
Thanks to its picturesque setting, the lake and surrounding parklands are very popular with tourists and hikers. There are different trails in the Park.
St Bartholoma, a famous pilgrimage church with an inn nearby, is located on a peninsula about halfway down the western lake shore.
South of the Königssee is the smaller Obersee lake with the Rothbach waterfall. There’s a little house at the bottom of it, so beautiful!
Because there is no lakeside path on the steep shore of the Königssee, St. Bartholoma and the southern edge can only be reached by boat, or via hiking trails up the surrounding mountains, except during harsh winters when the lake freezes over.
Now let’s talk about the structure: Kempinski is the European oldest luxury hotel group and of course this reflects to the quality and the elevated standard of the properties.
The crown jewel is the heated outdoor pool, located in a quiet and private location, with a wide solarium with lounge chairs, offering a relaxing and toning break after the hours spent in discovery the near National Park.
Nonetheless, the wellness area provides you with a Finnish and herbal sauna, a steam bath with colour therapy, and a meditation lounge with floating water beds (this is awesome!).
The luxury body treatments, the exquisite massages and the beauty therapies can restore the natural equilibrium of the body and they vary depending on season: the result is a total relaxation!
Breakfast is served in a large part of the restaurant on the ground floor whose large windows are completely opened during the warm season, letting the perfumes and colors of the mountains enter, giving you a pleasant sensation as you start your day.
From the buffet, you can taste exquisite local marmalades, whole grain breads, fresh rolls, hot croissants, delicious homemade cakes or scrambled eggs, bacon, and cheeses, served with courtesy and professionalism with elegant porcelain and silverware in perfect Germany tradition. There is also a wide choice of tea, coffee, juice and other hot and cold beverages.
The service is impeccable!
The dishes of the restaurant look also delicious and perfectly composed: so tasty, you have to try them!
I hope to visit it also in winter time in order to show it in a different way: it’s marvellous now but with the snow I think is even better!
Thanks again Kempinski!
